This is exactly why I left Schwab recently. I found it unacceptable that my account became inaccessible every night. And they claim to have the best tech. I moved to Datek and I see alot of people trashing them but other then a couple of small glitches I managed to trade just fine. Still keep IRA accounts in schwab though.

Not trying to rub it in -(feel your pain).

re. Schwab trading. I, too wanted to trade this morning, and my experience was (almost) the same as yours. web site was down. busy signal on their 800 number. I finally realized that I could use their 'telebroker' service. Got through. Worked. Did my order & confirmed it was filled about 1 minute after entered. Problem was I wasted an hour trying to use the phone and the web site. Lost 4 points on the wait.
