I have two trading accounts: Datek and E*Trade. In addition, I (god forbid) talked a friend into getting E*Trade and will be doing some purchasing for him. Today, I logged into Datek with some difficulty. Was able to get real-time quotes 40% of the time I asked for them. Was able to intermittently get portfolio for my account. Datek = bad but not unusable most of the time.

E*Trade has almost bombed every test. I was finally able to log in to my friend's account and do a trade at around noon. My own account seemed OK just at market open but then the server refused to confirm an order (WDC at 28 3/16 [market at that time] .. WDC now up over $4) after that. The whole system seemed to shut down. I couldn't get a screen up after 9:50 and I *still* can't log in using my id/password. The thing keeps asking for id/password. This is not even the first time E*Trade has this particular bug ... they STILL haven't fixed the password verification mechanism yet. As usual, their telephone backup sucks as well.

Heaven help us if this is "the way trading will be in the future". The only thing I'd use E*Trade for is 2-3 trades a year. All my active money is going elsewhere.

E*Fud was completely frozen this morning while there were tons of bargains in the market.

Voice of Martin Sheen: "E*Fud. Some day we all won't be able to trade this way."

Hahahaha!

What a lousy brokerage.

Happy Investing!
