that depends. how much are you long? and what are you doing with the rest of your PF? if you are long a bunch of commodities and other crap that is about to get hammered, being long TBT will just add to the pain. this type of PF has a good chance of seeing everything go down at once.

OTOH, if you are short a bunch of crap that is about to go down, long TBT might act as a hedge.

IOW, i don't think TBT position should be considered in isolation.

me, i am long gold, and also TLT and 10yr. i see bonds as offsetting gold and vice versa.

How much higher can the 20 bond go???

try back to the December highs, for starters. that is a 33% gain. if you are short that along with all the other consensus followers, and you are also long all the other stuff all the consensus followers are long, then there will be no place to hide and such a move would be very unpleasant.
