I wonder who the target group is.

10 grams is about one-third of an ounce, and anyone coming into Frankfurt looking to purchase larger amounts of gold would probably do it elsewhere.

If the vending machines are popular, I expect to see some sort of publishing of general rules regarding money laundering and the transport of large amounts of metal across borders and the associated declaration procedures.

IOW, distribution phase of the gold bubble.

We're still in a deflationary phase with the economy. It's only when it's clear that the deflation is over, and that inflationary forces have gained the upper hand, that gold will shine... IMO.
