I understand it fully. The refugee camps are really towns where Palestinians live. As for being allowed to leave, the PA and Gaza are internally self-governing.

They are self governing within the confines of their Israeli overlords and Palestinians are required to show visas when traveling outside their region.

Any restrictions on movement when they go to areas where Jews live is for security reasons. There used to be no restrictions and hundreds of thousands of Palestinian Arabs would go to work in Israel every day, crossing a border easily. That was the case for years until the terror groups began their bombing campaigns and put a stop to it.

They were never able to move around freely but its gotten much worse in the last ten years. The set up stinks....Israel continues to steal Palestinian water for its own benefits.

Now the Israelis are saying you can become a state but without all the trappings of an independent country. If Israel feels that way, it needs to move instead of being the control freak that it is.
