I think part of trimming SS will be cutting it for the older people that don't need it. The (R)'s will howl like banshees! I think you are right on both counts.

I think part of trimming SS will be cutting it for the older people that don't need it. There is something fundamentally wrong when a government confiscates money under false pretenses (you MUST pay this tax, but it will provide you a small retirement benefit after you're 65) -- then, "they" suddenly decide, "Well, you make too much money, so we're not going to do what we said". I can tell you this much -- it isn't going to be just Rs howling. Those old Florida Ds are going to be PISSED when they can't get their government handout. They think they earned it, are entitled to it, and they're going to be furious if they don't get it.
