WEST traded 0 shares today and 0 shares all week.

Is this actively quoted during regular trading hours?

I believe you can't buy during a trading halt or when there is pending market-moving information that hasn't yet been released. I know we discussed this, but I don't see it in the Rules.

When a player places an order expressed as one compound order such as:

>>Please cover my OPEN short and sell my BCSI and purchase WEST with all of the proceeds. <<

it is assumed the first part (even if 2 steps) is for the purpose of getting the cash to do the second part.

It was covered in a Rule that Taro removed and has not put up, even though we had an extended discussion about it, where I went back and found the prior header that had it.

It was something like, if any part of an order is invalid, the whole order is invalid.

If you want to be "protected" from this, place an order with separate instructions.

You could place:

Please [optional wording]

Cover my OPEN short.
Sell my BCSI.

Purchase WEST with all of my cash.

The proceeds from a sale are reduced by the trading cost of 1%, and covering a short (which is a Buy To Cover) with a trading cost of 1% does not actually yield proceeds even though it increases cash. Proceeds of sales go into cash; and covering a short increases cash.

Think that you are speaking to a human broker or placing your order with a computer that can follow your instructions in the sequence you state.

If you give one instruction, the same as for a One Follows Other order, if any part of that order is invalid, the whole order is rejected.

We've had this situation the other way; where a player says, "If I knew I couldn't buy, I wouldn't have sold."

Taro, put that Rule back in, please.
