My buddy Bob understand history very well. In particular when compared to your idea of history.
That said, why don't you deal with his take on the consequences rather than trying to nail down exactly how many years we were on that 35$ an ounce gold standard?

Now, since you entered this issue, don't try to spin off the way you normally do it.
