TJ, to save money, couldn't the USA just halve the pay of everyone in the military? Not to mention all other federal employees. They wouldn't be able to get other jobs given the amount of unemployment - there isn't much call in manufacturing "Green" cars in Obamamotors for people highly trained in M16 firing and other weapon wielding.

They could use the savings to double the number of soldiers, which would soak up lots of unemployed and give the rest a rest. They could go to Afghanistan, or South Korea, or Taiwan, or somewhere, such as line up along the Mexican border.

Alternatively, they could just double the pay of everyone using freshly pixelated money from Big Ben who has helicopter loads of the stuff. That would increase California's tax revenue too as the higher pay would boost housing prices, capital gains taxes and income tax.
