Tropical medicine doctors could call the pilots wayo easily. They know the dynamics of malaria transmission, know the most efficient vectors are, when is the period of the night a person is most susceptible to be bitten, the age distribution of infections...

The tropical medicine doctors know all the correlations and relationships affecting the disease dissemination.

But the tropics is not in the OECD. IATA is. Uhmm, lets see, involving IATA plus some strong pilots and aircrew unions and pretty soon you have a way to suck money more efficiently than a bug does with blood in a human being.

If all this money investing overweight, heart diseases -not to mention the pseudo-science on climate change- would had been invested in tropical diseases erradication, the bus would be endangered species today.

Just apply the idea: capital hogging. means science hogging, and misaplication of research resulting in much technical resources applied where it is not needed, and much less where it is needed.

But we are correcting that as we speak.
