We've got TONS of "physicians" here that specialize in liposuction, face lifts, tummy tucks, sports medicine, etc. Not neccesary "medicine", but feel-good "medicine".

Not tons but some. But what does that have to do with the shortage of primary care physicians?

The fact is that cosmetic surgery has the huge advantage that patients are largely self pays, and almost never does a cosmetic surgeon have to deal with Medicare and Medicaid.

Can't blame 'em for that.
