I believe I clearly stated in this thread at the time that everyone was overreacting to the situation. Including Bush.

It was hard to tell, because when you have the politicians in a state of panic, you think, "Hell, they must know something we don't."

But they were wrong, R & D alike.

We know this because were we headed into a depression six months ago, nothing that has happened since could have remotely affected that. The so-called stimulus money has scarcely begun to be spent.

I was wrong about Bush's expenditure of $350B for TARP. Clearly, that's what saved the banking system. But it now appears we'll get a substantial portion of the first $350B back. The second 350B may be just wasted.
