Isn't that the gripe about single payer. i.e. care is rationed and/or very costly to the taxpayer. It also seems to me that it might be useful to put some health care dollars into more doctors, nurses and other health care professionals.

Another thing that is interesting to me is the American experience with laser eye surgery This is not paid for by most plans and the cost has been steadily dropping. Why is that? I wonder if anyone has studied the situation from an economic viewpoint.
