You took away the wrong point. It's not just the fact that they're made in India. The brand name non-generic medications get the most FDA scrutiny for obvious reasons.

Less obvious is the inconsistent regulation for generics, which come from a variety of sources (such as India) and are often not ensured to be exactly the same as the brand names they are meant to replace. I don't have a link, but this is an issue that several pharmacists are already aware of.

That's just one of many examples of how the current problems in health care will be multiplied once we move to universal.
