I drove up to San Jose on Interstate 5 on Saturday...driving home tonight. Starting around Buttonwillow and all the way up to the 152 turnoff to Gilroy there were signs saying "Congress Created Dustbowl". These signs were planted in barren fields and groves of trees with no leaves...basically...dead fruit & nut bearing trees. We are talking about 200 miles of once lush farmland that is dry.

i was wondering what the signs meant. I am disgusted to find out that it is about a freakin smelt.

It really can't be helping the california economy to have our finest agricultural area hobbled like this.

At some point we as a society need to just say...Fuck the Smelt!

Until I see an these environmentalists living a lifestyle that doesn't impact the environment, I will continue to dismiss this crap. I'd say that they need to go live in caves, but then they would be depriving bears and packrats and god knows what other animals, of a home.

Guess what folks, just being alive impacts the environment. And I'd gladly make fishsticks out of every one of those delta smelt to save 80,000 jobs.
