2009-05-19 09:39 ET - News Release

Initial Bulk Sample Averages 3.85 Ounces Gold Per Ton

GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- (Business Wire)

During the first quarter, LKA International (OTCBB:LKAI), through its operator Underground Specialty Construction, shipped a bulk sample of ore from its Golden Wonder mine to Teck-Cominco’s processing facility in Trail, British Columbia. This initial ore shipment yielded 88 dry weight tons of crushed ore with an average grade of 3.85 ozs. (109 grams) of gold per ton.

The ore from this bulk sample was produced from a zone just above the mine’s 6th level during LKA’s current exploration/development program. This program, which began in November 2008, is designed to assess the continuity of the vein structure(s) from previous production zones which yielded more than 133,701 ounces of gold from 1998 through the first half of 2006. This initial ore shipment contained significant levels of waste material from pre-production development work which may be minimized once production begins>>>>>
