What irritates me are these MDs that insist you call them
Doctor [first name]. I'll call you Dr. Jones, or Charley but I WILL NOT call you Dr. Charley. It's demeaning, to me.


That's common practice with Chiropractors. I've never encountered it with MD's with the exception of my daughter's pediatrician. He as "Doctor Dave." In that case it was acceptable as it helped to ease the kids' tension about seeing the doctor.

One of my mother's pet peeves were doctors who insisted being called Doctor, but would call her by her first name. She'd cure that by using the doctor's first name also.

"Well, hello there Shirley, how are you doing?"

"Well, just fine, Bruce, how are you today."

That usually put an end to the problem.
