I've been making time for the tonka toys, but spending it on whipping my workshop and some of its contents (like some cars and bikes I want to sell) into shape. And the weather hasn't been tonka-toy friendly. Torrential rain that left the ground muddy then the way it dried out was the arrival of unbearable heat and humidity.

Barely tolerating it in the workshop and really, haven't been as much the past few days until very late last night.

I might've mentioned on Talkzilla but not here that I have a nickname among the local excavation community. "You-Bury-It".

Well, a few weeks ago my mechanic (the one I use for these machines -- they intimidate me) was watching me demonstrate how ailing the Cat 973 was and, of course, it was running perfectly, so he decided to run it for a while.

And buried it. He stopped trying to push himself out after a while and asked "How far down do I have to dig through this muck to get to good footing?" to which I responded "Do you speak Chinese?".

I had to rescue the machine with the trackhoe then spent about an hour getting the trackhoe out of the mess I'd put it in positioning myself right for the rescue.

I called him yesterday and said "Hi, Junior, I've got a question for you." His response was "Who is this?" My reply "You-Bury-It Senior. Got a question for you, Junior."

He laughed at that. I hope it catches on locally.
