I can't defend Obama. I don't even particularly like his policies.

But don't you get the feeling that we're turning into a thugocrisy? We're probably not much of a republic anymore. Contract law means squat, constitutional law means even less. Since Obama has been in office he's done nothing but pay off the unions and screw up our standing in the world.
