Speaking of Sinopec, a little bird tells me that TransCanada is getting serious interest in it's Alaska LNG export alternative. Likely customers include BG Energy, Mitsubishi, Sempra International and Sinopec. Potential demand is large enough to kill the land-based pipeline via Canada to the lower 48 states.

Alaska can supply 3-5 billion cubic feet a day of natural gas for 30-100 years. TransCanada, recently partnered with Exxon, has scheduled an open bidding season for 2010.
