I've been helping an Iranian write a book about the '79 Revolution in Iran 30 years ago. The parallels in the book are astounding to what's going on here and what's going on over there now.

The parallel to what's happening here is the unrestrained enthusiasm supporting Ayatollah Khomeini. Everyone, including himself (a young man in his 20s), looked at Khomeini as practically a deity come to save the country from the Shah's mismanagement of the country. The mullahs then took over businesses, industries, institutions, media, education - everything - with the promise that the proceeds would be distributed to all the people. Of course that never happened. They kept the money for themselves and to fund all their terrorist organizations like the Basijis and Hezbollah and to fund a life in palaces with lots of servants and fleets of expensive cars.

His email today said: The difference with the Shah and the mullahs is that, the mullahs will kill thousands, they have no where to go. I am praying for someone in the military to do something courageous.
