A hummingbird flew into my garage about 8 years ago. Whole garage interior was painted white. It kept bouncing off the white ceiling trying to escape. I tried closing the vehicle entry door and the rear exit door alternately, hoping it would notice the change. Tried herding it toward either door with a rake. It kept flying into the ceiling.

I hung the rake up and went away for about 6 hours, leaving both doors open. When I came back, hummingbird was perched on one of the rake tines. I very gently moved the rake outside and gave a gentle shake. Hummingbird immediately flew to flowering crape myrtle about six foot from garage door.

a Vatican investigator named Andrea Ambrosi will arrive from Italy in Wichita on Friday.

He will investigate on behalf of the church in Rome whether 20-year-old Chase Kear's survival qualifies as a miracle; whether he survived a severe head injury last year in part because his family and hundreds of friends successfully prayed thousands of prayers to the soul of Father Emil Kapaun, a U.S. Army chaplain from Pilsen, Kan., who died a hero in the Korean War.
