LJ, imho, government is beholden to special interests that pay them large sums of money. i think there is plenty of evidence to support this conclusion - take the banks getting their losses wiped off their books while keeping their gains. you and i get to pay for their losses. the citizens don't want to hear the truth, so only liars have a chance of winning. the better the liar, the better the chance of winning a place in government. this means most government officials end up being sociopathic liars - and these people are very self serving, the country be dmned. and dmning us they are. it isn't pretty, but it is real, imho.
