That's actually very good news, imo. Very few deaths for a disease so widely spread- and think of all that immunity out there now.

I said a while ago it was probably more widespread than anyone thought- way back in early May I saw a lot of students sick. I'm sure they didn't get tested- and they all got better. We have a lot of Hispanic students passing back and forth to Mexico- so I don't think it would be unusual for us to have had many cases (undiagnosed). My Hispanic students almost never seek medical attention- they tell hair raising stories in class "My sister's eye got poked and it turned all white for a long time and then it got better." "MY mom ran over my foot with the car but she put ice on it and said it would get better" "I broke my arm but my parents just wrapped it up, and look, it got better- well I have this weird bump...."

And on and on and on

So it wouldn't surprise me that the flu is hugely under reported- but really, that's only good news. Sure it might get worse later, but if you've already had it, or developed antibodies naturally, you are ahead of the game.
