I take the long view in music, centuries long. Jackson sold a lot of records but was too much of a one-off to influence others, other than for the music video medium, as I mentioned. And music video is more properly positioned as a visual medium rather than audio.

What other musicians do you think he influenced?

That is an absurd statement if I ever heard one. Good Grief.


Actually the statement is very true. Virtually no one listens to "Thriller" any longer, it was a fad. To put Jackson with the likes of the Beatles and Elvis is wrong. Jackson's videos stand the test of time but most of his music does not.
