The law is the law. And no man is above the law. Adultery is a crime in South Carolina. He is the governor of South Carolina. Sanford should be impeached for and charged with adultery.

I doubt there has been a prosecution for adultery in more than 40 years even in Carolina. He should be impeached if he does not resign but not for adultery. He left the country without transferring responsibility for the office he was elected to fill. Left no way to be contacted. Enlisted subordinates to lie for him, etc.

I agree......that's the real crime and it provides ample evidence of how much he doesn't want the job.

" He left the country without transferring responsibility for the office he was elected to fill."

Exactly what responsibilities should a governor transfer?

Foreign policy decisions maybe?
NK missile test interceptions?
War decisions in Afghanistan?
How about pressing decisions about Iraq?
How about urgent bills before Congress?
Maybe order another occupation of Fort Sumter?

Governor Stanford repented, confessed his sin to his wife/family before being caught and to his constituency after being caught.
