Part of the reason for conquering Iraq Many use the term "liberating", and that would appear to be a more appropriate term, especially since we're getting out. Anyway, part of the reason was to replace Saddam with a democracy, and that worked - despite widespread consensual beliefs. Al qaeda style jihad is not popular there. Will that last? Hopefully it will. The problem is that a new regional nuclear race triggered by Iran may transcend everything else in the region.
