(notice small g) <The timing proves that you lied when you claimed I never responded to your question. In fact I answered right away.> Nice try:<<A lie (also called prevarication), is a type of deception in the form of an untruthful statement, especially with the intention to deceive others>>No deception intended... as the next post showed:http://siliconinvestor.com/readreplies.aspx?msgid=25731051&nonstock=True&subjectid=30630 But fine... if you want to just go with that, it's fine can't get much broader than this: <<A personal God is one that is self aware, rational, volitional, has emotions, and is able to act.>> Although within the context of the Trinity of course there are, and have been, endless possibilities as to what all that means. Still, nothing we're able to shed light on I suppose.... so is there some deep dark connection to evolution (or maybe I should say "non-evolution") here?? <If you want to know about the Trinity a definition is not hard to find. Here's a good one.> Oh, I've studied the Trinity... that's precicely why I wanted to know what the hell YOU meant by personal God... everyone has different ideas on what that means... that's why the Trinity (1 in 3, 3 in 1 persons, but God also, and all that) it's described as "a mystery"... for obvious reasons.... in fact: ""It is manifest that a dogma so mysterious presupposes a Divine revelation."" So clearly we don't understand it... or have you had a revelation lately? <The Trinity is held by all Christian denominations.> Apparently NOT the Catholic Trinity: "" For this reason it {the Holy Trinity} has no place in the Liberal Protestantism of today."" <You don't need to have extensive knowledge of electricity to know that when you flip a light switch, the light goes on.> Hey, yer a genius! <Neither do you need to be omniscient to know that Christians worship Jesus as God> Or God, or the holy spirit, or many Catholics pray to various saints, Mary, etc. Further, many Christians believe (Protestants of course... ssssssssss!) that the inclusion of Jesus as part of God was the Catholic Church making a power play... as he was made "God" later. <that Jesus is a person and that He spoke to God the Father in terms that make it clear that the Father is also a person.> Jesus WAS a person walking around... and he SPEAKS (not spoke) to the father... now he's NOT... the church describes him with "personhood" despite the fact we know well (unless heaven is another planet, not likely, since it's "within" us) he went to heaven to be with the father. Further it's clear Jesus and zillions of saints (and others) didn't need to speak to "speak" to God. Revelations from God are described as non verbal all the time. (Likewise the Holy Spirit is also referenced by Jesus as a person.) What else would he say? You take this stuff pretty literally don't you? You think the Holy spirit is "just" a person? Wowa! <I was pretty clear, in fact, clear enough that any reasonable person would know what I was talking about.> Yea, in your mind I'm sure that's true! <Namely; that Christians maintain that the Godhead is personal in that the Trinity is one being shared by three persons.> Sure... but of course much more than "three persons"! certainly you don't think they're just people walking around do you? God is everywhere, all at once! Further, it's also the way of the world... it's how things work: "WE ARE ALL ONE BODY IN CHRIST"... we're not separate.. I think even you after VAtican 2... before that I'm afraid you weren't included. <Now you are saying you have no trouble with the doctrine of the Trinity, which by definition, maintains that God is personal.> That's why I asked you what YOU meant... get it? <<This proves that you are not a serious seeker of truth but just want to play word games.>> NO, what it proves (so far to me) is you think God is a old guy with a white beard sitting in a board room with Jesus on the right and HS on the left speaking English and running the world like IBM and I don't. You can drop it and move on or enlighten me if you wish. <don't you think evolution is simply gods way of creating?> <<I haven't seen any evidence from scripture or science that would lead me to think that's the case">> Well, I'll take the Pope's word for it on both counts...he does... in fact thinks those who deny it are a bit strange I heard. I think he's a bit better versed in scripture than you are. I can see you differ from many Christians on many ideas. DAK
