It was a nice ceremony with a picture slideshow. One of our other good friends was also honored and we enjoyed visiting with them also. Well our whirlwind weekend is over and now look forward to the big one next June. Friday was a distressing day for us regarding the airport. Got to Hobby at l:00 p.m. for a flight at 3:00 p.m. According to my husband's assistant you can no longer print boarding passes on the Internet so we didn't have any when we got to Security. His assistant forgot to notate that on our copy of the agenda for Dallas. So Richard had to go back to the ticket counter for them. He got back to Security and my pass was in the envelope and his wasn't, so back to the ticket counter he had to go and when he got there the Agent told him he put it in the envelop. "Wow, no you didn't and our plane is supposed to take off in ten minutes so give me one now." We got through and on the plane, as the Agents at Security were so helpful to us. I didn't know you now had to show your Driver's License and they make a copy of it. The only thing I had to take off was a tiger eye and gold belt and my shoes. They did take a pair of stainless steel scissors that looked like a square of medal. I had forgotten I had in my makeup bag. I had everything packed in it so it would not turn over and I got really upset when they took them. Told them I wanted them back as a dear friend had given them to me as a birthday gift on my 50th birthday. Well if I wanted to do that I had to go back and fill out forms and with not time, I just told them the blades were just an inch long and could not do enough damage to anything other than my nails, toenails or cutting off price tags on clothes when I purchased them. I also asked him if I fit the profile of a terrorist or a dangerous person, a blue eyed with white colored hair. He looked at me with surprise look and I wondered if the thought of having me arrested then and there entered his mind. He dumped my makeup bag into the plastic box and started to put things back and I said don't do that, I will pack it just like I had it when you opened it. Really that was exhausting time spent for me. Since we were running so late by the events asked for a ride to the gate and advised me a wheelchair was the only thing they had to offer me so I had to do that. There must be at least 100 wheelchairs at that airport and they have a person to push you to the gate and that requires a tip. She was a lovely person and got me there on time with Richard limping behind us tired of all the rigamarole (SP and I'm too tired to look up the word if it IS in the dictionary) they put him through. The nice thing we did have a friend in Dallas who provided a ride for us to the hotel, in a new Bentley, no less! A very enjoyable ride, I must say and he carted us to the Belo Mansion where the event was held and back to the hotel. On our return flight it was delayed so we were an hour later getting home than we planned. Came in and packed another bag for our visit to the Casino to celebrate our Anniversary Day and took off driving so we could make it to the Wayne Newton show on time. It was a disappointment for us as he has had a lot of cosmetic surgery on his face and does not resemble the person he looked like years ago nor did he sing that much and we could not recognize his voice either. His face looks so bloated. He mostly acted like a comedian without singing his oldies or playing any of the many instruments he does. We left before the show was over as we did not think his act resembled anything we had seen before and to us was not that entertaining. We saw him in his hey day when he was trying to break his contract with Ceasar's Palace and put on a five hour show for us at that time. He told us he was going to keep all of us out of the Casino as long as he could and they did agree to release him from his contract shortly after. I guess we just expected more of the previous great entertainer than we saw Saturday night. So here we are back to reality and we both have a busy day for tomorrow so the story ends with us both hoping for a good night's sleep to face the onslaught of our next day home.
