I read an article a few months back that talked about the need for another bubble to get us out of this financial crisis. This article smacked of conspiracy theory, but it had just enough truth in it that it held my attention long enough to finish the article.

Dude.. you want another "bubble", at least let it be in something that ADDS PRODUCTIVITY, NOT REDUCES IT. Making people pay MORE for alternative energy vehicles than they are paying now is NOT the way.

The internet bubble, extreme as it was, at least ushered in a technology that made our economy more productive and has made information available to the masses of humanity at the click of a mouse.

An algae based energy infrastructure, when the technology is perfected for scalability to mass production, would be a worthy bubble since at least it would bring aqua/agricultural jobs and work towards energy independence using existing technology.

Nano-technology would ALSO be a good "bubble" to focus upon. New materials leading to even stronger buildings.. but also an untold of number of other commercial offshoots (think space program). And, in fact, returning to the moon would also be a good uplifting "bubble" we could focus upon. It would regenerate national pride, self-confidence, and technological advancements.

All kinds of bubbles can be "created", but it's just damn foolish to focus on existing alternative energy sources that CANNOT PROVIDE SIMILAR ECONOMIC COST ADVANTAGES.

Furthermore, the alternative technologies being advanced have YET to reveal an ROI that can be profitable without heavy subsidization (according to the facts I've seen).

You want a bubble, then create productivity as well as jobs.

Note the two terms:

1) the author, who disagrees with global warming

2) the author, a global warming denier..

what do you think global warming denier has strong connotations of in many folks' minds.. maybe only subconsciously..

It's a very powerful statement.
