Daewoo Set to Export External Set-Top Boxes

Daewoo Electronics Co. is to begin exporting new set-top boxes, which can be attached outside TVs, to Europe and
the United States, the company said yesterday. The company said it projects shipments of 200,000 units of the
product, made with U.S. customers' preferences in mind, by the end of this year. The company plans to strengthen its
marketing drive in the United States through public exhibitions. Production lines of the equipment would be expanded to
400,000 units by the end of next year, enabling the company to supply its product to South American countries such as
Brazil, Argentina and Chile, among others.

The company plans to ship 1.5 million units of the set-top boxes to Europe, including internet TV sets which have
internal boxes. The company is especially eyeing Britain and Germany as potential markets for its new product through
tie-ups with electronic equipment suppliers in Europe.
