For years I haven't known what day it is. To show how disconnected from reality and mentally debilitated I am, our son would say "Quick, what day is it?" I normally know whether it's summer or winter. Asking people what day it is as a cognitive test assumes they care what day it is an have taken some effort to find out.

Perhaps old Americans like to know what day it is and old English don't care.

Lately I know what day it is because people are wanting me to do things and tie myself up in their temporal machinations.

Today it's Tuesday and it's time to get up and have a nice cup of tea.

Maybe the difference between UK and US senior mental capacity has something to do with government health care?
