You know a lot of software makers do that too, they don't want people calling them and bugging them, or wasting money on toll free numbers, they want everything done by email, and have fun getting replies for tech support. Some of them will have their phone number buried in the site so deep it will take you forever to find it.

Poor business practices for what ever industry you are in.
