You miss the point, Bob. Biden will never be anything except a minor second fiddle to Obama. He has no hope of being president himself short of something tragic happening to Obama. And the way the Obama White House works, Biden has very little of public importance to judge anyway. What he does behind the scenes, we won't hear much about. His judgment is largely irrelevant when Obama makes all the final decisions.

Palin, OTOH, is idolized and lionized as the Next Great Thing for Republicans by many. So she will be under an intense media spotlight all the time, like it or not. And she really doesn't hold up well under that kind of scrutiny.

That's what many on the right can't cope with, so they blame someone outside their circles, the evil media. Believe me, any candidate that can't get on top of the media circus regardless, has no future in national politics.

Do you really know what Biden has done?

It's easy to blast the man because he talks a lot, and his gaffe's get press, but he's got a lot of experience, and he's a decent man who (imo) has his priorities about his family right. I like that he went home every night to take care of his sons. I want to see that kind of dedication in a public servant- but then I actually do believe in family values. People in my party sometimes disappoint me when it comes to FV- Clinton sure did- but I am very impressed by Obama and Biden. Can't say the same about the ticket they ran against.

Biden's very liberal- but I like that, and I would much prefer him at the helm than McCain or Palin. There are a lot of people who have worked with Biden over the years who like and respect him. That the right wing hates him is meaningless. If the dems ran Jesus they'd say he was a commie pinko without a birth certificate.

Biden was an excellent choice. Certainly he makes gaffes but he's widely touted for his foreign policy expertise; he's a genuine liberal in a fog of pragmatists which helps the conversation; he's a huge help with the senate since he was extremely influential there. To compare him to Palin is to genuinely misunderstand political heft and skill.

There is really no 'reality' to American public life. Witness the Michael Jackson fixation. I think there could be circumstances where Palin could continue to be a force in the political field. Many people are fascinated by her beauty, confidence and crazy family life and might just want to keep the spotlight on her and watch how her family lives in the White House. It could happen in our "People Magazine" culture.
Look at how many smart people were taken in by Bernard Madoff. Palin is much easier for most to identify with than Obama and Michelle whose combined IQ's dwarf most American couples.
