Greg: Nothing wrong with that at all, IF the presence of the alleged oil is as uncertain as you think. Again, we disagree as to how far down the "road to proof" Aipn already is in such negotiations. I insist that the oil is there, and everybody knows it to a virtual certainty, i.e. by ordinary industry criteria it is Proven. We have here a unique situation, utterly different in this respect than the ordinary one where the Soviet data and all the rest do not exist. I say the JV for that reason will not be deterred by any substantial doubt that this is an elephant, producible oilfield(s), nor is Aipn's power to insist on favorable terms now in any way impaired by what I regard as an imaginary uncertainty. Moreover, the Kazak associates are the dog, and Aipn is the tail. The Kazaks have this KNOWN bonanza, and can drive the hardest practicable bargain right now. You deny this. We'll see. Geneat
