He talked about it. It's a couple share point gain from about 11% to 13%, but they're not sure whether it will last. Comes from others about preportionately.

I agree solar doesn't compete with oil.

FSLR has some real advantages still.

The whole solar industry is hit by reduced spending in Europe, esp. spain and Europe, their major markets. Fslr had an investor's conference last week, after which the stock started sliding. Not a good sign. One issue I am aware of is that it is expanding into markets of its customers, something not appreciated by them. Private solar projects generally have trouble getting private financing because credit markets are still tight and the long-term illiquid nature of the projects make the less attractive as possible debtors in the eyes of private lenders.
BTW, the Jan. 2008 issue of Scientific American has an interesting lead article on how solar can free the US from dependence on foreign oil.

p.s. the board is unusually quiet. Is everyone just following the breaking news on the tragic untimely passing of the greatest dancer ever?

You don't see share loss in search due to Bing?

No way. Bing has to be 2X as good to drag people away from google.

Personally I don't think its as good so far.

I think Bill has it pegged, google is a power house, with the best talent working for them (in general).

Google cannot win in China because the Chinese government cannot control it, whereas they can control Bidu.

really its just too late for bing. This is no different than every other "better" solution that comes out after the market share grab is over.
