From this brief analysis, Japan has the highest efficiency in health care:

high life expectancy; low infant mortality;

fewer physicians and nurses than anyone else (only france has fewer nurses and they don´t count the males...)
health care expenditures at the lowe end (Only Australia has that little)
lowest ratio of healthcare costs to GDP

The US has an inefficient, expensive (by HC expenditures per person) system even considering that only 44% is covered by the government.
Something is terribly wrong.

>>High net-worth individuals always have the option of travelling to whatever jurisdiction they want for additional service - Switzerland, the US, China<<

Jim, I have traveled to Switzerland twice ('02 & '07) for a procedure that until recently was not available here in Canada.

The surgeon here, the "leader" in his field, was not even willing to discuss the alternatives to his procedure, dismissing them as "experimental" though it has been practiced in Europe for three decades with better results. Here, there is a long wait, an operating theatre, a scrub nurse, anesthetist, surgical nurse, intern and the big maestro.

In Switzerland, the procedure is performed with the most austere accoutrements, and without pretense, with a superior outcome.

I know it costs less for me to fly to Europe, rent a car, stay in nice hotels, drive around for a week, and pay for the procedure in cash(very reasonable), than what it costs to have IMO, a barbaric and backward hack job done a mile from my home.

Now the surgeon here has finally seen the light and has learned the european procedure....pisses me off since he failed four times working on me.......arrogant %#$&*

Thank God for the internet!
