RB there have been many studies on publicly-funded health plans, some extremely biased. Cultural differences account for some of the variations; it's difficult to control for them statistically. The chart came from the Wikipedia entry on Swedish health care: en.wikipedia.org It demonstrates that if executed properly the new administration's plan to rationalize health care can result in: [1] Lower health care costs [2] Reduced entitlement spending [3] Improved health in the population as a whole There's an opportunity here: to design the most cost-efficient and effective publicly-funded health care in the world. I think any analysis of healthcare costs should include tort lawyers income as healthcare savings. I bet the tort lawyers in Japan make very little.
