Management has done a great job reducing costs of labor, shoring up their finances, and revitalizing their whole business plan. It was a stroke of genius to turn down bailout money from government, even though they continue to lose money hand-over-fist.

Unlike with GM, the unions played ball with Ford management. They saw a clear plan toward self-sustainability and decided it was better to accept concessions than to stay locked in a death spiral.

Do you have a link showing this analysis of yours? As far as I know the UAW has made concessions to all three across the board, but these concessions would have no effect on market share short term. I think Ford is making much better cars and taking a page out of the Japanese' book in terms of marketing, advertising, and mind share building.
