India has the regular court system as well as the Islamic court system. I'd like to read more about that, and the muslim population there. the article I posted on the New India thread I need to get printed out. She sounds like a very interesting woman to keep an eye on.

btw - it seems rather a height of foolishness for men to have multiple wives, rather than vice versa... if anyone is going to have multiples, and frankly isn't one relationship rather enough to deal with? not that I'm a cynic or anything... but unless a man is super rich, more wives means more children when you often can't take care of the children of one wife. whereas a woman is only going to bear so many, tho in old american days they popped them out year after year until they died young and the man took a fresh young breeder, ooops loving wife. sooo, if the need is for support for the children, strong backs to work the fields... why not a woman have multiple husbands to get that work done and the children supported, aye? much more practical arrangement, in my humble opinion.
