I'm fairly sure that a lot of pharmaceutical drugs are addictive. Many of them are variants on opiate bases.

Not everyone who tries the opiates gets addicted (I'm one). Many people don't even like them, which seems surprising. There are many kinds of dangerous acivities, and most people avoid them out of caution or fear. Seeing a junkie is a powerful disincentive to playing with junk. Even seeing potheads put my daughter off smoking grass.

In any case, there's no denying that alcohol is an addictive drug, so it's just a matter of degree. Therefore the experience with alcohol legalization is a valid example. I'm not a libertarian, but I tend to agree with them on the drug issue. State interference seems to have created more problems than it has solved in the US.

BTW, do you know what happened to Slider? Did he get rich and retire? Go broke? Go mad? tic toc
