Pot has been legal in Alaska for 30 years. We have 100 times more problems with alcohol and meth than pot. Maybe 1,000 times more problems. We have so many injuries and death from alcohol it is amazing; and additionally a pandemnic of Fetal Alcohol syndrome (FAS), meth mouth and meth babies. There is no POT syndrome I know of.

And in fact, one could make a good argument pot reduces crime, as it is a sedative and calms people down and often used in place of alcohol which causes fighting. Stoned people fight less that even straight people.

I am the retired State director of the office of Alcoholism and Drug abuse. Wrote the first state plan.

Part of the reason pot is still illegal has to do with the right wing using it against liberals for political vengence and out of their normal stupidity.

There is no logic under the sun that allows for legal alcohol, but not pot.
