Orly Taitz questions Obama's citizenship in Jeff City;
receives support from 5 state lawmakers

JEFFERSON CITY | There's never a dull day in the capital city.

Today's evidence: a visit from Orly Taitz , the California dentist/lawyer (and black belt in Tae Kwon Do!) who's filed lawsuits disputing President Barack Obama's citizenship.

Taitz spoke to a crowd of about 40 at a hotel here this afternoon, and in a little over an hour threw a kitchen sink's worth of accusations at the president.

To wit: Obama has failed to produce a true copy of his Hawaii birth certificate; the birth documentation he has produced may be a forgery; Obama may have forged his selective service documents; he may have as many as 25 social security numbers; one of those numbers may have originated in Connecticut and indicates he's over 100 years old; he may have enrolled at Occidental College as a foreign exchange student; he may be guilty of wire fraud, social security fraud, mail fraud and other unspecified fraudulent acts related to his presidential campaign and various charitable organizations; and he may have held closed-door meetings with the U.S. Supreme Court in which he intimidated them into rejecting any cases challenging his citizenship.

Oh, and these crimes may amount to treason.

On the root issue of his citizenship, Taitz offered two arguments: One, without an acceptable version of his birth certificate, it's impossible to know if Obama was born in Hawaii and, thus, whether he qualifies as a "natural born citizen" as required by the Constitution; two, even if Obama was born in Hawaii, he still may not be eligible because of his father's British citizenship as a native of Kenya.

"To me this is just total disrespect for the whole country, to the citizens of this country," Taitz said of the inconsistencies she believes exist in Obama's record and his unwillingness to address them. "To me, this is someone in a position power telling the citizens of the country, 'you're just total, complete idiots. I can do anything and show any piece of garbage and be the president.'"

Taitz held up a sheaf of papers as evidence at various points in her talk.

She implored her listeners to form citizen grand juries to investigate her claims, and called on the courts to take the issue seriously.

"If the courts don't hear this issue soon, there's so much anger brewing that we'll end up with a revolt," Taitz said.

State Rep. Ed Emery, a Lamar Republican, attended the event. He said he believed it was critical to upholding the Constitution that Obama produce a true birth certificate, distinct from the certificate of live birth that has circulated in the press.

Taitz also appeared today in St. Louis. At that event, she said, state Reps. Cynthia Davis, Tim Jones and Casey Guernsey, all Republicans, committed to signing on as plaintiffs in a Missouri lawsuit challenging Obama's citizenship. A staffer for state Sen. Jim Lembke, a St. Louis County Republican, also attended the St. Louis event.
