Well said, Sam. But in addition to all of the above, for most purposes there are only 58 Dem Senators voting. Both Byrd and Kennedy are too ill to be around day to day.

Thanks for joining the discussion. The subject could be interesting. At least it is a subject that is a current issue of the day.

As for simplistic - well - jousting with Steve is always interesting - we sink quickly to a low level of debate. It would be interesting to get him and others to debate the future rather than to dodge by continuing the fun game of bashing Bush. None the less - the issues of the day will be decided by Democrats - not Republicans. Obama talks bipartisan policy but Nancy slams the door. Will there be an Obama Sister Soulja moment with Nancy?

Tell me - do you think the Obama stimulus plan is working? I do not. The rise in interest rates has slowed what I thought was progress. The fall in commodity prices is also a bad omen.

My personal belief was that the Fed would refloat the boat near term with the real trouble coming in the future. Now I am not so sure. I think the burden of interest rates is now being compounded by basic lack of confidence or uncertainty in Obama policy. Cap and trade - that is a job killer. Health care cost uncertainty is also a negative. Funding huge deficits is also an issue.

If the recession belongs to Bush (that is a simplistic statement that is likely to be fully embraced on this board) then the success or failure of the stimulus plan belongs to Obama.
