It is not in the light of the first amendment.

Freedom of speech does not apply to a private enterprise ESPECIALLY one based in the Land of Boogerville. What does apply are the TOU to which you agreed when you signed up on SI.

Civics 101: So-called "free speech" protections are an obligation of government, not individuals or private enterprise. Nobody has any "right" to free speech here anymore than they do standing on a coffee table in your living room.

As to the enabling moderators to delete posts, that's a long running argument about a double-edged sword that cuts no matter which way it swings. Any changes will ultimately be up to Bob and he has a lot more critical matters on his plate than redesigning a basic functionality that has been in place here for thirteen years. So, while it may or may not be in the offing, I wouldn't hold my breath.
