Oregon has the highest taxes of California, and Washington and it is a much nicer place to live. I worked in government for so long and all I saw were over worked and underpaid people who did great things for our state. The right wing never figured out it was the rich in our country who do not want government. They have enough money to pay for what they need, and so they want low taxes because they do not want to help anyone else. So the uneducated of the south bought their crap because they wrapped it in the flag, adorned it with guns and covered it with hate and fear. The poor people never understood they were getting ripped off. The poor right wingers helped the people who would keep them down and rip them off.
