I wouldn't presume to tell you about something you know so well, Dale. I'm talking about strategies not so much the specifics of things you probably know extremely well. Sure, there is something really effed up with tribal wars in Africa and the Carribean. Other places too where "tribe" is usually just a archaic and Colonialist view of another set people by a third party...

There is always an element of us and them, historically and tactically. There was a great article - I wanted to post it but it really fits the purpose here. It is about how people feel greater empathy for those in their social peer group.

I'm strictly talking about probabilities and gaming theory. There is a Sun Tzu element to all of this. If a country is having a revolution, the die is cast. If the country is unstable, but governed, you can have influence.

I believe all human transactions reduce to games. One of the downfalls of this approach is everyone gets to have a "theory" but only those in power get to play. Even as a career diplomat your envelop of performance is limited by your leadership.

I influence a multi-billion dollar company. That doesn't make me the captain or even first mate. The ship sails and I better adjust my behavior to that of the boss, or my career is going to be short. I don't always like the outcome of my efforts and feel powerless to select a different approach. I'm sure it shapes my posting.

Edit: I put the link in a response post.
