I have to say, you are not being fair to American blacks. They are not monolithic any more than any other group. Do not judge them by the negative outliers. We all seek to find ways to reinforce our point of view, and I think this makes us remember the rude freaky people in any given population we may think is defined by it's most negative members- but whether you are looking at whites, or blacks, or whatever, most of the members of that class are going to be pretty decent individuals. I've been given wonderful service by people from all ethnic groups, and I've had wonderful students from all ethnic groups. Do I sometimes want to generalize because on the really extreme behavior by some of my students? I do, but I always always work against that, and I'm always glad I did.
