He probably used every spare window he had laying around when he built the house. It's just as easy to frame for a custom size as it is for a standard size. Lucky you! On the other hand I suspect the inside of your house feels light and airy, as opposed to the dark cave feeling of many houses from that era.

I am still kind of surprised at the price. I know we have a large window manufacturer in the state (Wallside Windows). They do vinyl windows, but every one is custom made. They come out, measure all your openings, and make the windows in a few days. Price seemed reasonable and the window quality/seals were excellent. Only problem is, you have to pay them to have it installed. They won't sell you just the window. Home Depot carries vinyl windows and they will let you custom order any size for a small extra fee (at least they used to).

If you want wood or fiberglass frames, or a special brand, then the price starts to make sense.
