Yes he did make a run for the Governor and lost to Republican James Gilmore.

Gilmore understood that the Democrats were pushing harder and harder for taxing Virginians at all levels.

Gilmore pushed through the reduction of State personal property taxes as the taxes were inhibiting the people's decisions to buy newer fuel efficient cars.

This was also at a time that the Democrats in the Virginia portion of the D.C. Metro area wanted to install a new income tax at the local level, at the county levels.

Thanks to such organizations Taxpayers Alliances the info got out about their desires.

Remember that the Democrat Party is the party of tax and spend and now of spending money that doesn't exist.
